A Teacher’s Second Chance

Issa, a beloved schoolteacher in Bamako, devoted his life to shaping the minds of young children. For over 20 years, he taught math and literacy with patience, kindness, and a smile that inspired both students and parents. But last year, Issa was diagnosed with renal kidney failure. The treatments were far beyond what his modest teacher’s salary could cover. Slowly, his health declined, and the community feared they might lose not only a teacher but a mentor and role model. That’s when our charity stepped in. Together with compassionate donors, we launched a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of his dialysis and medical care. The response was overwhelming support poured in from neighbors, former students, and people across the world who believed in giving back to someone who had given so much. Within weeks, enough was raised for Issa to begin regular treatment. His strength slowly returned, and he is now back in the classroom part-time, doing what he loves most: teaching children. Through tears of gratitude, Issa shared these words: "I have spent my life teaching lessons, but this time, my students and community taught me one—that love and kindness can heal more than medicine alone. You gave me back my life."
